script- the families (1)

FADE IN…

INT. RESTAURANT - ORDER AREA – DAY

MARK - 25, well built, a boy next door chops beet root. There are cabbages, carrots and tomatoes lying nearby. In between he looks casually at a girl sitting among tables in the dining area in front of him. She is JUDY - 28, tall, slender and a blonde.

INT. RESTAURANT - DINING AREA – DAY CONT’D

Judy sips her coffee. She glances at Mark.

INT. RESTAURANT - ORDER AREA – DAY

Mark pushes the button and a bell rings. Number 30 is displayed on the digital signboard above him.

A FAT MIDDLE AGED MAN comes to collect his order.

MARK

Sandwiches and salad..

Mark puts plates of sandwiches and salad in front of the fat man. The fat man nods and fetches both the plates. Mark again glances at Judy.

INT. RESTAURANT - DINING AREA – DAY

Judy looks at Mark.

INT. RESTAURANT – DAY

Mark again looks at Judy. Their eyes meet. They hold the glance.

INT. RESTAURANT - ORDER AREA – DAY

Mark picks a pineapple but then starts rolling his eyes. He looks at Judy. She appears hazy to him. Mark then falls. Sound of some fallen utensils accompanies.

INT. RESTAURANT - DINING AREA – DAY

Judy and few customers look up with surprise.

INT. RESTAURANT - ORDER AREA – DAY

A MIDDLE AGED WAITRESS comes from backside and looks down.

MIDDLE AGED WAITRESS

Oh.. Not again.

Mark is lying on the floor unconscious.

INT. RESTAURANT - DINING AREA – DAY

Judy gets up and walks toward the order area.

EXT. FOREST ROAD – DAY

A car is running.

INT. CAR – DAY

Judy is driving the car. Mark is lying on the back seat. Music is playing on the stereo. Mark starts buzzing. Judy looks at Mark in the mirror and smiles.

JUDY

How are you feeling now?

Mark makes some effort and gets up.

MARK

I am fine. Where are we going?

JUDY

Today’s Friday. You have a date

with my parents. Forgot?

MARK

Oh I forgot simply.

JUDY

Do your panic attacks make you

forget things too?

MARK

Nothing like that. I just forgot.

Let me come to the front.

Judy stops the car.

EXT. FOREST ROAD – DAY

Mark gets off of the car and gets in through the front door. The car drove off.

INT. LIVING ROOM – DAY

A middle aged lady is putting some flowers in the base. Her name is BERTHA, mother of Judy. She is 45, and slender. Just then the door opens. Judy and Mark enter.

JUDY

Mom, we are here.

Judy and Mark come towards Bertha. Bertha stops her work and smiles. She comes towards Judy and Mark. Both Judy and Bertha hold each other in a light embrace.

JUDY

Here’s Malcolm. Malcolm, mother.

MARK

Hello mam.

BERTHA

Hello Malcolm. Hope you are doing

great.

MARK

Pretty good.

JUDY

Where is father?

BERTHA

He is out there in the backyard.

Preparing for barbeque.

JUDY

Ok. We will meet him there. Come

Malcolm.

Judy holds Mark’s hand and starts going out. She stops near the door.

JUDY

What about David?

BERTHA

Not yet. They will be here anytime

now. I will wait for them here.

JUDY

Ok. Come Malcolm.

Both Judy and Mark go out of the room.

EXT. BACKYARD – NIGHT

A middle aged man is opening a packet. He is RICHARD, 50 with stout build and charming face. There is a grill machine on one side and a table with things for barbeque.

Judy and Mark come.

JUDY

Hey papa!

Judy and Mark come towards Richard.

RICHARD

Hey Judy! How are you dear?

Richard comes towards Judy and Mark. He hugs Judy and Judy kisses him on the cheek.

JUDY

He is Malcolm. Malcolm, my daddy.

Mark comes forward. Richard extends his hand towards Mark who shakes it.

RICHARD

Hello boy. How’s life?

MARK

Good.

EXT. BACKYARD – NIGHT, CONT’D

A young man DAVID - 25, Judy’s brother with his girlfriend ELISA - 24 comes towards Richard, Judy and Mark. Bertha is also coming.

DAVID

Hey papa! Hey sis!

David comes near and hugs Richard.

RICHARD

How are you my son?

DAVID

Great as always.

David hugs Judy.

JUDY

Hey David!

DAVID

Well she is Elisa.

Elisa smiles.

ELISA

Hi.

Judy hugs Elisa. Richard and Mark nods at her.

JUDY

And he is Malcolm.

David and Mark shake hand. Everyone gathers up and starts talking.

INT. JUDY’S BEDROOM – NIGHT

Judy is on her bed. Mark comes and slips inside the cover.

JUDY

So you never heard from your family

after that…

MARK

No.

JUDY

And your brother?

MARK

Neither.

Mark slips inside the cover. Judy keeps thinking something.

INT. RICHARD AND BERTHA’S BEDROOM – NIGHT

Richard and Bertha are sleeping. Just then Mark enters. Mark goes to Richard. He raises his hand holding knife and slits Richard’s throat. Mark goes to Bertha and slits her throat also.

INT. STAIRS TOWARDS DAVID’S BEDROOM – NIGHT

Mark is climbing the stairs. He is still holding the blood stained knife.

INT. DAVID’S BEDROOM – NIGHT

David is sleeping. Mark enters. He goes to David and slits his throat also.

INT. DAVID’S BEDROOM - BATHROOM – NIGHT

Elisa appears at the bathroom’s door. She is totally terrified. She has just witnessed the act.

INT. DAVID’S BEDROOM – NIGHT

Mark gets up and looks at Elisa. He goes towards her.

INT. DAVID’S BEDROOM - BATHROOM – NIGHT

Elisa steps back. She doesn’t bolt the door. She is so stunned. Mark comes towards her. He stares her for a while but then turns and goes out of the bedroom. Elisa – numb - slips to the bathroom floor.

INT. JUDY’S BEDROOM – NIGHT

Mark comes in the room. He picks up his jacket. A dead Judy is lying on the bed. Mark simply goes out. After sometime he can be seen going out of the house through lawns from Judy’s bedroom window.

EXT. METRO STATION – NIGHT

Mark walks on the platform. He passes by a poster with his sketch on it saying wanted for murder. He tears it off, folds and keeps in his jacket. The metro train comes and he boards the train.

INT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

JOEL, 30 – with a boyish and nervous look is munching hamburger and sipping coffee. He looks at the young waitress SUZIE – 19, who is serving at the nearby table. Joel seems infatuated with her. Suzie comes to Joel. In his excitation he spills some coffee on the table. He keeps the cup on table. Smiles nervously.

SUZIE

You need anything else?

JOEL

No.. Yes.. No thanks.

Suzie goes back in the kitchen.

EXT. RESTAURANT – NIGHT

Joel is leaning on his car. He seems waiting for someone.

A MAN ON BIKE (BIKER)- 35, comes and stops near Joel. He starts honking. Suzie comes out. Joel looks at her intently. She hurriedly goes to the Biker.

BIKER

You brought money?

Biker lighted a cigarette

SUZIE

I don’t have.

Suzie looks upset.

BIKER

Then you have only one option.

Come with me.

SUZIE

I beg you. Please. Give me some more

time.

BIKER

How much more time Suzie! You know

I like you. Come with me.

SUZIE

One month.

BIKER

One Month. No way. I can give you one

week at the most. If you won’t give

my money by next week you will come

with me. Ok sweety.

Biker gives Suzie a flying kiss, starts his bike and drives off. Suzie starts going back.

JOEL

Excuse me!

Suzie stops and looks at Joel. He comes to her.

JOEL

What’s the matter? Is he troubling

you?

SUZIE

Oh. It’s nothing. Leave it.

JOEL

I can help you. Sorry but I have

listened your conversation. I mean

I can give you money on loan.

Suzie thinks for a while.

SUZIE

How can I take money from a stranger?

JOEL

I said on loan. Well… I want to

tell you something.Umm..I am feeling

so stupid. Actually I had fallen in

love with you ..Love at first sight.

Now wait ..wait don’t think I am giving

you money for that. And you need not to

be in love with me too. Please. .I want

to help.

Suzie thinks for a while.

SUZIE

Ok. But I will take it as loan. And

you seems nice but don’t think I will

be in love with you or something.

Joel smiles.

JOEL

I will be content with one sided love.

INT. HOTEL ROOM – NIGHT

Suzie and Joel are in bed. They are making love.

INT. HOTEL ROOM – NIGHT, CONTD

Joel snuggles Suzie.

SUZIE

I am so lucky. I meet you.

Joel smiles.

JOEL

In fact I am lucky that you could

find me love worthy. I thought I

would die with your life long

desire in my heart.

SUZIE

What did I know that you will be

such a great guy? Have never

been in relation in before. Guys in

a way have used me in past.

JOEL

Not anymore. You are with Joel now

forever. And tomorrow I will take

you to meet my parents.
